West Nile virus has been found in mosquito samples in Northampton.
The city's health director made that announcement on Thursday.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health raised the risk level for West Nile from low to moderate this week.
No human cases have been reported in the state so far this year.
Officials continue to say use sprays with Deet and remove standing water from properties.
