There are heat advisories in effect throughout most of New England from 10 this morning through 10 Wednesday night.
An end of summer mini heat wave could see record temps in Hartford, Springfield and Boston broken.
The unexpected hot weather has forced a couple of western Mass school districts to take action.
In Springfield, where Monday was the first day of school, Superintendent Dan Warrick says there will be an early dismissal today (Tuesday) because of the heat.
However, in Holyoke where today was supposed to be the first day of school, officials there have cancelled school for both Tuesday and Wednesday.
The new first day of school in Holyoke is expected to be Thursday.
