Heat Warnings Today--A Break For Tomorrow

posted by John Baibak -

More Western Massachusetts schools  are truncating classes on Wednesday because of the hot weather.

Early  dismissal, early closings and half-days are being instituted at  Amherst-Pelham, Belchertown, Greenfield, Ludlow, Springfield  and Ware schools, while Holyoke schools will once again be closed.

Enfield, Connecticut schools are operating on a shortened school day as well.

An  Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect from the National Weather  Service for eastern Hampshire and Hampden counties, with heat index  values of up to 105 degrees predicted and high temperatures in the upper  90s.

Teachers who are with kids this week say they are offering kids more water breaks throughout the day and that seems to be keeping things as close to normal in the classroom.
