New School Planned For Springfield

The Massachusetts School Building Authority is approving about 49-million dollars for construction of a new school in Springfield  that will consolidate two existing schools.

The state  approved the funds during a Wednesday meeting in Boston for the new  school on Plainfield Street on the North End, which will replace the  aging, deteriorated Brightwood and Lincoln elementary schools.

The city  estimates the project will cost just over 70-million dollars.
