The UMass Athletic Director has suspended Head Coach Mark Whipple for a week without pay for remarks he made during his post game press conference at Ohio University.
The Coach was upset with a particular call in which he though one of his receivers was interfered with ---which wasn't made. He said that his receiver was "raped."
The coach, in a statement said that he was disappointed with the way he handled the issue. He said it represented a lack of respect for the issue and regrets the word he used.
Before he returns, the coach will have to go through mandatory sensitivity training.
The suspension means that Whipple will miss the USF game this weekend at home.
