A discussion among faculty and students is scheduled to take place at the University of Massachusetts today regarding racism and racial profiling on campus.
The event is being scheduled following someone reportedly writing a racist threat in the bathroom of a resident hall, plus the police being called on a black employee walking to work, both last month. Students protested the incidents last Thursday.
In addition, officials say that students will protest the post game comments of Mark Whipple from last weekend.
In those remarks the coach said that a call that he thought was pass interference that was not called was like a rape. That drew the ire of students. The coach was suspended for a week.
The panel discussion is scheduled for 5 p.m.
