The Hadley Police Department is explaining what led to a large-scale police response at a shopping mall this week.
Officers received a call from a business in the Campus Plaza on Wednesday about a man that appeared to be carrying a weapon, possibly a shotgun or rifle, slung over his shoulder.
When the department responded, they found the individual and determined the object in question was a long umbrella in a black cover.
No arrests were made.
