Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno is being named the parade marshal for this year's Springfield Parade of Big Balloons. '
The mayor accepted the position from the Spirit of Springfield and was presented with a jacket and sash on Tuesday from a group including Police Commissioner John Barbieri, who was last year's marshal.
The city notes that there are plenty of other scheduled vents on November 23rd, including MGM Springfield's ice-skating rink opening with former figure skater Nancy Kerrigan taking part in the occasion.
