The first winter weather event of the season left eight inches of snow in Springfield through the overnight hours.
The National Weather Service says additional heavy mixed precipitation of up to one inch and a light glaze of ice accumulations will result in slippery road conditions for the morning commute in portions of Western Massachusetts.
Most greater Springfield Schools are operating with a 2 hour delay.
However, the exception to that is Springfield schools are closed today.
Springfield, as well as Amherst, Chicopee, Granby, Greenfield, Holyoke, Ludlow, Monson and Southwick, all have parking bans in effect.
