Local Church Buys Gun Stock

The Episcopal  Diocese of Western Massachusetts is hoping to address gun violence from  within the firearm industry.

The diocese voted last  month to buy two-hundred shares of stock in American Outdoor Brands, the  Springfield-based parent company of firearm manufacturer Smith and  Wesson.

Bishop Douglas Fisher says the diocese hopes to bring some of  its suggestions to the table, such as universal background checks and  smart gun technology.

No comment from Smith and Wesson yet.
