Done Deal: Where Will Pot Taxes Go?

An agreement is being reached on how to direct proceeds of a recreational marijuana tax for the city of Springfield.

Mayor Domenic Sarno and members of the Springfield  City Council have announced that 33-percent of funds received through  the three-percent retail sales tax will go to the Impacted Neighborhood  Stabilization Fund.

Neighborhoods within a  mile-and-a-half radius of each new dispensary in the city will receive  revenue for educational and recreational programming for youth and  adults, infrastructure improvements and other efforts.

The Mayor vetoed a  council vote last month to allow 50 percent of the revenue to go to the  neighborhood fund.
