Western Mass Hammered With Rains

We have been from the Freeze to the Flood and now in some locations we are back to the Freeze.

With temperatures in the upper 40's and low 50's Thursday a lot of melting was done.

That in combination with up to 3 inches of rain caused localized flooding throughout the area.

Eversource Western Mass reported at one point several thousand customers in the greater Springfield area without any power caused by the flooding.  They are all back on line now.

In Agawam, officials closed a portion of Route 75 from Shoemaker Road to the Suffield line because of flooding.

In Longmeadow, police there report the area around the Longmeadow Shops was a trouble spot for flooding there.

In Granby the area around Chicopee Street was closed off for a time.

The intense rains may have caused some problems for drivers as well.  Police in Westfield report that a driver went off of Route 20 into a brook and had to be pulled out.  The driver is ok.
