Snow Sleet And Freezing Rain Hit Region

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is blamed for some tough travel conditions still across the state. The Speed Limit on the Pike is down to 40 miles per hour from the New York Line to near Westborough. Drivers are asked to lay off the speed and increase stopping distances. Some local roads are still ice covered while some others are slushy. There are some delays this morning. You can find those in the storm center. It depends upon where you are as to what you are dealing with this morning.Southwick, MA: 3.0" (Sleet)·Westfield, MA: 3.3" (Sleet)·Longmeadow, MA: 3.0" (Snow/Sleet)·Ludlow, MA: 3.0" (Freezing Rain)Longmeadow, MA: 3.5" (Sleet/freezing rain)

The storm started yesterday as snow and changed to a wintry mix as the temperature rose. Numerous minor crashes were reported across the region, slowing traffic and causing some heavy back ups.  There have been a few power outages reported overnight by the utility companies. With the exception of a few scattered outages in Springfield, it appears that everyone right now is still on the grid. Temperatures will increase throughout the day to about 40....drop to the mid 20s overnight. It is a return to the low 40's on Thursday while Friday we could see the low 50's.
