Sarno Warns Union After Negotiations Head To Arbitrator

There is an apparent total breakdown in the negotiations between the Police Supervisors and the city of Springfield and Mayor Dom Sarno isn't putting up with it. Sarno issuing a terse statement this morning.

The Mayor asking “What’s wrong with this picture? The majority of Springfield Police Supervisors live outside of our Springfield. Their tax dollars do not go to our Springfield. But our tax dollars go to paying out lawsuits for their sins of not properly supervising our rank and file police officers. Stop moving ‘the goal post’ and honor your word and commitment. ‘I’m sick and tired of their tactics and to think this is a department that I have stood up for continuously!’ As Sam Cooke would sing – ‘a change is gonna come’ – stay tuned.”

Union officials had indicated that after three years they thought they were close to a deal. But the talks have broken down. The Mayor called union demands "unreasonable" and now a State Arbitrator will have to figure it all up.
