Bill Would Crack Down On Irritating Robocalls

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is part of a coalition of attorneys general urging the U.S. Senate to enact legislation to curb illegal robocalls. 

The AG's say the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act, co-sponsored by Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey, would allow states, federal regulators and telecom providers to take steps to combat the illegal calls. 

More than 48 billion robocalls were made in 2018, making it the number one source of consumer complaints to federal agencies.
