The Hampshire College Board of Trustees chairwoman is resigning.
Gaye Hill has released a statement saying since the board set on a difficult path to secure Hampshire's future, members have encountered a range of emotions and reactions, which she says was expected.
What she says was unexpected was "vitriol, slanderous attacks and the questioning of motives" that were leveled at her and her colleagues who have been working to bring Hampshire through the worst financial crisis of its history, which the college announced it was facing earlier this year.
Hill led the board for a six-year period.
