Neal: Request Is "Policy Rather Than Politics"

Springfield Congressman Richard Neal is finally fulfilling a request that has been made to him as the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee: ask for President Trump's tax returns.

Neal released a statement yesterday saying he has sent a written request to the IRS for six years of Trump's personal and business tax returns.

He says it is critical to ensure the accountability of our government and elected officials.

Trump has refused to release any of his returns since he ran for and was elected president, claiming they were under audit.

In his statement the Congressman says that the who request is a matter of policy, not politics.
