Fire Department Updates Recent Blazes

The Springfield Fire Department is updating several cases.

The major fire that damaged a pair of buildings in Springfield's Forest Park section was caused by improper disposal of smoking materials.

That has been confirmed by the city fire department.

45 people were displaced and two went to the hospital following last Tuesday's fire on Belmont Avenue which burned in two buildings.

330 thousand dollars worth of damage done.

Fire Officials are also looking at three car fires in the last week. Two on Crystal Street. The other on Page Boulevard.

A fire department spokesman says that it is unclear whether those three fires are connected.
