DA: More Charges Considered In EBT Card Fraud Case

The Holyoke man accused of buying food with fraudulently-obtained EBT cards for use at a restaurant owned by his wife appeared in Springfield District Court yesterday afternoon.

Jose Baez denied several charges, including food stamp trafficking.

The Springfield Police Department says more than 75 EBT cards were used by Baez, totaling tens of thousands of dollars spent.

Authorities say the restaurant in question,

El Rincon Boricua in Holyoke, has been shut down due to code violations.
