Gender "X" Bill Passes Senate

A bill allowing people to choose "X" as a gender on driver's licenses in Massachusetts is passing the state Senate.

Northampton Democrat Joanne Comerford filed the bill, which also would allow for a change of sex listed on someone's birth certificate.

She chose that topic to do her first floor speech.

She received a standing ovation after her remarks.

The Senate passed a version of the bill last year without the birth certificate component, but it did not get a vote in the state House.
