Hampshire College is announcing new steps to reduce its workforce.
Twenty-four staff members will be laid off by the end of June, according to interim president Kenneth Rosenthal.
The college says it is cutting its budget for faculty salary by 45 percent, and says 26 faculty members will take voluntary leaves of absence from Hampshire, although many will still be teaching within the Five College Consortium.
Other faculty members will have their hours reduced or are retiring.
The college is dealing with an uncertain financial future.
