Senator Wants Expansion Of Rail Study

A Western Mass legislator wants another passenger rail service option to be considered.

Northampton State Senator Jo Comerford testified at a state Transportation Committee on Tuesday about a bill she has filed to add rail service from Boston to Greenfield and North Adams.

The bill specifically seeks a feasibility study for the service by next year.

Comerford noted that the Route 2 corridor was previously served by rail up until about 50 years ago.

The state is already looking into rail service from Boston to Springfield and Pittsfield.
