SJC To Hear Calls For More Attorneys For Indigent

The state Supreme Judicial Court is set to hear a case from attorneys who say they are overburdened with cases for indigent defendants.

The state Committee for Public Counsel Services filed an emergency petition this week to overturn a Springfield District Court judge's order to continue taking cases. The committee says there are not enough qualified attorneys in Hampden County.

The arguments will be heard on Monday.
