West Springfield, Westfield, Holyoke Partner Up On Carbon Sequestration

Three Pioneer Valley cities are getting involved in the fight against climate change. The mayors of West Springfield , Westfield and Holyoke provided details yesterday on a carbon sequestration program, which aims to preserve 15-thousand acres of trees and watersheds.

Carbon credits will be sold to developers to keep them from cutting down trees, and the cities plan to collect more than two-million dollars from those credits over the next decade to help maintain the acreage.
