A state medical board is putting new rules in place that will allow doctors to perform more than one operation at a time.
The new rules require that records specify when the lead surgeon has left the room.
The records must also specify who is in charge when the attending surgeon leaves the room.
The rules were established after a controversy at Massachusetts General Hospital where surgery times overlapped for hours.
