Commissioner Upset With Low Bails

The Springfield Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday night who allegedly slashed tires on three undercover police cars.

The SPD says Wilfredo Garcia committed the crime while a narcotics investigation was happening in the High Street and School Street area, which led to four other arrests.

Garcia reportedly climbed to the roof of a building before surrendering. He had been arrested in June and again this past Sunday, leading acting police commissioner Cheryl Claprood to object to the low or non-existent bails that are being set for people who constantly wreak havoc in that area of the city where enforcement has continually increased.
