Billions Proposed For Better Roads And Bridges

Governor Charlie Baker is seeking an 18-billion-dollar increase in funding for roads and mass transit.

Baker's proposal dedicates over five-billion-dollars to the MBTA, offers tax credits to telecommuters and funds more transit bus lanes.

It also would dedicate money for projects to reduce traffic congestion on local streets across the state.

Baker says the proposal would add over 100 thousand seats to the state transit systems over time.

The Governor says that state roads are in good shape but local roads are in need of a big time fix.
