Kids Get Warning Not To Play At STCC

Springfield Technical Community College is posting an update on campus soil contamination.

STCC says a report from an engineering consultant last month determined affected sections of soil in and around the campus' quad area can be used for short-term activities.

That green-light is not for young children who may crawl and play in the soil, however, as the report notes young children are the most sensitive receptors to lead exposure.

STCC sits on the Springfield Armory site, which was used to manufacture firearms for nearly two centuries before the college was founded.
