Storms Cause Power Outages And Delay Some School Openings

A wind storm to start off the month of November is impacting Western Massachusetts.

A top wind gust of 62 miles per hour was measured by the National Weather Service at around 12:30 this morning in Granby.

Trees, wires and utility poles were reported down in Southwick.

Eversource has the following power outage numbers overnight: 15-hundred out in Springfield, 14-hundred in Longmeadow, nine-hundred in Greenfield, and about two-hundred in Colrain and Blandford.

At one point there were nearly 9 thousand customers of the electric company without any power.

Meantime, communities are cleaning up from downed trees and some power lines.

The storms have forced two hour delays in Belchertown Schools, Gateway Regional and Pathfinder Regional.

Ware Schools are closed.
