MBTA Says Springfield Trains Ready For Action

The MBTA says the new Orange Line trains are going back in service.

The trains, manufactured in China but assembled in Springfield, were pulled from service last November because of an unusual noise that was detected.

An official for the T said during a meeting on Monday that the parts of the trains that were causing the problem are being replaced, and that future vehicles made at the Springfield facility will not have the problem.

Of the two trains that were introduced to the fleet earlier last year, one was said to be back in service last week, the other is to return later this week, and then a third train will be added late next month.
