A viral challenge calling for people to plug in a phone charger, then slide a penny into exposed metal prongs, was reportedly attempted by a student in Plymouth on Tuesday.
Plymouth Public Schools said there were no injuries or significant damage to Plymouth North High School as a result of a student's irresponsible act of shorting out an outlet, and said charges will be pursued.
A couple of reported similar incidents elsewhere in the state prompted an advisory to fire departments and districts earlier Tuesday from the state fire marshal.
