Smith College: Potential Virus Cases Unrelated

A Smith College student is being evaluated for potential exposure to the new coronavirus.

College officials said in a letter to the community last night that a student who traveled to the Hubei province in China, the epicenter of the outbreak, is being isolated after reporting cold-like symptoms.

Officials say there is no risk to the Smith community.

They add that this second case is unrelated to one over the weekend involving another Smith student who was placed in voluntary isolation after saying they might have been on the same flight with a man who later tested positive for the virus.
