Fired Cop Gets Reinstated

A former Chicopee police officer who was accused of sharing photos of a murder victim is winning back his job.

The state Civil Service Commission voted to allow Jeffrey Godere, who had been a sergeant, to return as a patrolman.

Godere was fired in 2018 after he was one of several officers accused of sharing unauthorized pictures of the body of murder victim Amanda Plasse, and of the crime scene, in 2011.

A spokesperson for the Chicopee Police Department says the state decision to give Godere his job back could be appealed.
