A Springfield man is being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
A Hampden Superior Court jury convicted Pedro Vasquez of second-degree murder yesterday for the shooting of Yahaira Hernandez in 2015.
The state supreme Judicial Court got involved in this case, when it ruled last August that prosecutors couldn't use certain evidence, including statements made to police by Vazquez.
The court was upholding a judge's ruling that said police did not properly inform Vazquez of his Miranda rights.
