Transportation Ready To Act On Ignition Locks For Drunk Drivers

We are expecting to hear from the Joint Committee on Transportation today on whether they will endorse Ignition Interlocking Devices.

State Senators Eric Lesser and Harriet Chandler are members of that committee.

Under the provisions of the proposal, a person convicted of drunk driving would be required to blow into a breathalyzer to prove they were sober before being able to start the car.

The Governor supports the measure.

Defense attorneys do not.
