Virus Update: Cases Increase In Massachusetts

Massachusetts Health officials say overall there is one official case of Covid19 in the state, and now seven presumptive cases. The concerns over the virus have led to the barring of fans at the NCAA Women’s Basketball Division Three Regional games at Amherst College this weekend. Officials say they took the unprecedented action out of an abundance of caution.

The statewide number reflects the three workers who attended a Biogen Conference that was held in Boston.

In Springfield, four School Department employees are now being self-quarantined after a trip to Italy during the winter break. Officials say the schools where they work -- Boland, Homer, Brightwood, and Glenwood Schools are being sanitized. There are no cases of Covid 19 in the city.

Meantime, in Connecticut, Governor Ned Lamont has confirmed that a hospital worker in Danbury has tested positive for the virus. The worker lives in New York. She has been self-quarantined.

At MGM--Casino officials say they are embarking on enhanced cleaning procedures at all of its properties with an emphasis on high traffic areas including door knobs, slot machine levers, bathrooms and other areas.
