Private boarding schools in the Pioneer Valley are deciding if they want to go with online instruction. Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham and Deerfield Academy are all extending spring breaks and preparing to offer the remote learning on a temporary basis.
Similar action has been taken this week by local colleges and universities.
A number of school districts in eastern Massachusetts have announced weeks-long closures.
There are a handful of Western Mass school districts that are closing a few days to clean, including the North Adams School District.
