Northampton Hospital Reports Corona Cases

The Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton is reporting that two people they are treating have tested positive for the Coronavirus. Those appear to be the first two cases of the virus in Northampton.

The Mayor David Narkewicz had overnight declared a State of Emergency. That designation had nothing to do with the medical declaration but does make it easier for the city to access state and federal money if need be.

Hospital officials say that there is still a great need for additional test kits in the area. There are several guidelines that need to be met before going to the hospital and being tested.

Hospitals do not release identifying information because of privacy laws. There is no word on what the condition of the two who tested positive are.
