Spr Police: Woman Spit on Cops---Then Claimed She Had Virus

A disturbing story out of Springfield where police say they arrested a 48 year old woman for violating a restraining order and resisting police, then allegedly spitting on the two officers.

Police were called out to Marsden Street Monday.

The woman, 48 year old Michelle Pelotte, who was believed to be under the influence refused to cooperate, then began spitting at and on two Springfield Police Officers while claiming she has the coronavirus. The woman has history of assault and battery against Police Officers. She was transported to the hospital and will be arrested to face two felony charges.

“Behavior like this that puts the lives of the public or our officers at risk will not be tolerated. The officers now have to wait for results, which isn’t easy for anyone because of this person’s reckless behavior,” said Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood.

The Springfield Mayor, Dom Sarno also upset by the story. "I hope they throw the book at her and send a strong message that this demented behavior will not be tolerated. Unbelievable, we’re in the midst of tackling this pandemic – I have no patience for this B.S.!”

The officers were checked out at Baystate Medical Center.
