Baker: "Prepare For The Worst"

Governor Baker is asking residents to “prepare for the worst, and hope we don’t have to go that far.”

The Governor says the anticipated surge of Covid 19 virus is expected sometime between April 10th and the 20th.

The Governor says that during that time the state will have somewhere between 47 thousand and 172 thousand confirmed cases of the virus.

He said there would be fatalities but did not mention a specific number. In order to mitigate the despair, the Governor said there would need to be 500 additional ICU beds developed and between 750 and a thousand field hospital beds.

He said that 14 hundred ventilators would be needed. Some of those beds will be in Worcester at the DCU Center, others at the Boston Convention Center while sites on The Cape are also being considered.

The Governor said that a western Mass site could be developed at the MassMutual Center.
