Sarno: We Need Those Masks Now

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno says he's disappointed with the federal government for not supplying enough personal protective equipment to cities and towns.

He says Springfield's first responders need N-95 masks for protection from COVID-19 when responding to calls.

Sarno notes seven firefighters and more than 25 police officers are currently out of work. The mayor says his administration will try to secure its own supply of N-95 masks.

Springfield has at least 200 recorded Covid 19 cases in the city already. The Health Commissioner says there is substantial community spread going on.

Earlier this week, under great fanfare, the New England Patriot's plane went to China to get medical and other supplies. Then the state delivered some of those supplies to New York and Rhode Island. Springfield got none of the vitally important masks.
