Governor Cancels Classes For All Students For Academic Year

Governor Charlie Baker says all public and private schools in Massachusetts are closed for the rest of the academic year because of COVID-19.

Baker says students cannot safely return to school as data shows the state remains in the grips of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Governor says there was no way to configure classrooms, or buses or anything else in the school day to make it possible.

Over 30 other states have reportedly ordered or recommended school closures for the remainder of the academic year.
