Joint Base Cape Cod Field Hospital Closes Without Seeing Anyone

The field hospital set up at Joint Base Cape Cod to handle a possible surge of coronavirus patients is closing without seeing one.

Cape Cod Healthcare CEO Michael Lauf on Thursday said Cape Codders practicing social distancing and restrictions enacted by local governments helped prevent what he said could have been a catastrophic event on the Cape, a scenario supported by early models.

Lauf added that two other step-down facilities in Falmouth and Brewster remain open.

The number of COVID-19 patients at Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals went down by three yesterday.
