Furloughed Workers At MGM Wonder About Future

Furloughed workers at MGM Springfield may be out of luck.

They could lose their jobs permanently if MGM Resorts doesn't quickly recover from the economic uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The company says it will pay employees health benefits through the end of August when it may start to permanently layoff those who haven't been called back to work.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno says he's trying to help the casino and other businesses in the city safely reopen.

The Governor is expected to announce a series of protocols that will allow parts of the economy to open safely. It is unclear whether the casinos will be part of the initial phase.
