Sarno Takes Issue With Farmers Market Post

The Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno said on Tuesday he was ordering a review of the overall operation of the Farmers' Market at Forest Park by its manager after she posted on Facebook telling customers not to bring children.

In follow-up posts, manager Belle-Rita Novak clarified that children are welcome and that everyone over two years old must wear a mask.

Novak also said she was deeply apologetic and that the request was due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sarno said the initial comments were hurtful and discriminating and said that children are always welcome at the farmers' market.
