Small Business Suing Governor Over Shutdown

The New Civil Liberties Alliance - which describes itself as a group organized to fight “unconstitutional administrative state” has sued the Baker Administration claiming that the Governor’s order and state of emergency that basically has closed the state, exceeded the constitutional authority of the office. The group is representing a group of small business owners throughout the state. Under the original order, all non essential businesses were ordered closed. Some business owners say they don’t have an issue with the actual shutdown of the state but want to make sure that if it is done again for any reason that there is no doubt that the Governor has the authority to do so. The case was filed in Worcester Superior Court.
