Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno is calling for a review of the city police department's use-of-force policies following the killing of George Floyd.
Sarno announced Monday he has signed on to a national pledge for such action issued by former President Barack Obama.
Sarno said the SPD has already committed to parts of the pledge, including de-escalation training, no physical restraints such as chokeholds, and most recently, the introduction of body cameras.
This comes as Democrats in Washington, DC are calling for sweeping police reforms nationwide.
