Pandemic Forces Big E To Cancel 2020 Fair

There will be no Big E in 2020.

The plug was pulled yesterday on the West Springfield fair scheduled for September and October because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, the fair set an attendance record with over one-point-six-million visitors.

Eastern States Exposition CEO Gene Cassidy noted the Big E has previously been suspended only by the two World Wars in its 104-year history.

Cassidy called the decision to cancel this year's event crushing for the hundreds of vendors who depend on the fair for their livelihood.
