The Governor is ready to reopen more of the state’s economy.
Governor Charles Baker, beginning Monday will allow Phase Three of the reopening plan to commence.
That means gyms, movie theaters, among other things may reopen.
Businesses that return to service under the newest phase of the reopening plan must folow safety restrictions that include limits on their capacity.
Unlike the first two phases of the reopening, this phase will be a little longer than the previous phases. The Governor says this phase will be broken into two smaller phases.
Indoor gatherings will be capped at 8 people per thousand square feet up to a maximum of 25 people. Tents are not included in the directive as it pertains to caps.
Before announcing his decision, Baker noted that Wednesday's daily report included 261 people who had newly tested positive for the virus, 753 patients hospitalized for COVID-19, and a 1.8 percent positive test rate.
The Governor says that the state continues to make steady progress in handling the virus.
He is however insisting that residents do not let their guard down, that they continue to social distance and wear a mask when they cannot.
