A Springfield man is being federally charged with promoting prostitution.
The U.S. Justice Department alleges Kevin Smoot transported females to and from appointments and provided a space, was engaged in recruitment efforts, helped procure illegal drugs for use by drug addicts engaging in the activity, and took actions to collect money from customers.
Smoot faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
